Job summary

Vertical Aerospace is seeking a Senior Stress Engineer to join our Airframe Engineering team. You will lead structural analyses across metallic and composite airframes, applying hand calculations and advanced FEA to meet certification requirements.

The role includes mentoring junior engineers, coordinating cross-project analysis, and producing substantiation reports for certification. Ideal candidates bring senior-level experience with aerospace structures, excellent communication, and a track

Qualifications

• Significant experience performing stress analysis on metallic and composite aerospace structures.
• Experience with hand calculations and finite element modelling techniques.
• Ability to define structural substantiation strategies and load paths.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis of airframe structures and develop optimized solutions.
• Lead structural assessments using FEA and hand calculations.
• Define analysis strategies aligned with certification requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate analysis across projects.
• Produce substantiation reports and support certification activities.
• Collaborate with Design, Loads, Certification, Test and Manufacturing.
