Job summary

Vertical Aerospace is seeking a Senior Stress Engineer to join the Airframe Engineering team in the UK. You will lead structural analyses for airframe components, mentor junior engineers, and work across Design, Certification and Manufacturing to ensure safety and certification readiness.

Ideal candidates bring deep experience with metallic and composite structures, hand calculations, and FEA, plus strong communication and collaboration skills to drive integrated solutions in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Significant experience performing stress analysis on metallic and composite aerospace structures.
• Experience with hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead small technical teams.
• Familiarity with certification substantiation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis of airframe structures and develop optimized solutions to meet demanding requirements.
• Lead structural assessments of composite and metallic structures using first-principles calculations and FEA.
• Define and execute analysis strategies aligned with certification requirements.
• Lead small technical teams and coordinate analysis activities across projects.
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers.
• Produce and approve substantiation reports and support certification activities.
• Collaborate with Design, Loads, Certification, Test and Manufacturing teams.
