A leading healthcare provider in London seeks a motivated Day Surgery Nurse to provide pre- and post-operative care for oncology patients. The role requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, and management experience. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic team environment, fostering specialized skills and professional development.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join a busy team of dedicated Day Surgery Nurses.
The Day Surgery nurses provide pre- and post-operative care for day case patients in an oncology setting, undergoing both general and local anaesthetic procedures. They also prepare a high turnover of patients for more major surgery.
The unit also offers a pre-assessment service to evaluate Day Surgery patients for various surgical procedures, including specialties such as breast, urology, plastics, gynaecology, head, and neck.
It is essential that the candidate can work using their own initiative and collaborate effectively as part of a team. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, work well under pressure, and provide a high standard of care.
You must be flexible, possess excellent communication skills, and have management experience. Flexibility regarding working hours is essential, as days and hours during the week can vary.
Pre-assessment experience is desirable; training will be provided to the right individual. Recent general surgical or Day Surgery experience is required. Evidence of ongoing professional development is also necessary.
We seek an enthusiastic, experienced, motivated, and dynamic nurse to join our Day Surgery/Surgical Admissions and Pre-assessment service. The role includes caring for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures. All surgical admissions, whether in-patient or day cases, are managed through the unit. The post holder will be required to take charge of a shift, demonstrate effective communication with a multidisciplinary team, and deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. You will also be responsible for developing a team of staff under the supervision of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse. The environment is challenging, exciting, and supportive, fostering the development of specialized skills. You will work as part of a highly skilled team including nurses, anaesthetists, and HCAs. A supernumerary period working alongside senior team members will be provided, along with opportunities to undertake relevant courses at the Royal Marsden School of Nursing. After training, the successful candidate is expected to work independently and manage their own caseload in collaboration with the day surgery pre-assessment sister. The service operates Monday to Friday.
