Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the team. The role involves assessing and managing adults with dysphagia and communication disorders, delivering evidence-based treatments, and working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

You will provide specialist care, contribute to service improvement, and supervise junior staff as appropriate. A HCPC registration and RCSLT membership are required, with postgraduate dysphagia training

Qualifications

• Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree required.
• Registration with HCPC mandatory.
• Membership of RCSLT preferred.
• Postgraduate dysphagia qualification or Level C competency.
• Experience with adults with dysphagia/communication difficulties.
• Strong clinical reasoning and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment and management of adults with dysphagia and communication difficulties.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
• Participate in MDT meetings and contribute to clinical decisions.
• Support safe oral intake recommendations and communication strategies.
• Deliver training and advice to patients, families, carers and staff.
• Contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement.
• Support and supervise junior staff and students.
• Maintain accurate clinical records.
