Job summary

Ganton School in Hull is seeking a Senior Specialist Teaching and Learning Support to work with pupils with a range of special needs. The role offers 20.5 hours per week, term-time plus 5 days, fixed term until December 2027 (maternity). Start date December 2026.

You will work with experienced teachers in small groups or 1:1, supporting learning, including breakfast club and lunchtimes, and contribute to individual education plans and personal care as needed.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths Grade A-C (or equivalent).
• NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
• Understanding of National Curriculum, EYFS Guidance and other codes of practice.
• e.g. SEN, Equalities, Safeguarding.
• Highly competent written skills, including spelling, grammar, and ICT.

Responsibilities

• Undertakes structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, including 1:1 and group reading interventions as directed.
• Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plan/learning activity and assist pupils in their use.
• Support the emotional, behavioural and pastoral needs of all pupils, including children with additional needs.
• Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education / Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.
• Assist with the planning of learning activities.
• Staff may supervise whole classes during short-term absence of teachers.
