Job summary

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham is seeking a Highly Specialist Prosthetist to lead and develop a high‑quality prosthetics service for adults and children. You will manage a clinical caseload, supervise trainees and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, cost‑effective prosthetic prescriptions.

Responsibilities include advanced casting, fitting bespoke devices, and driving research, audits and training while ensuring compliance with professional

Qualifications

  • BSc Honours Degree in Prosthetics or equivalent qualification.
  • Current HCPC registration and maintenance of professional standards.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Member of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO).

Responsibilities

  • Assess and develop treatment plans for patients with highly complex disabilities.
  • Manage own caseload, supervise staff and students, and develop the prosthetic service.
  • Specify, evaluate and modify bespoke prosthetic devices with manufacturing input.
  • Communicate complex information clearly to patients, carers and colleagues.
  • Provide clinical leadership, drive evidence-based service development and audits.
  • Perform risk assessments and ensure safe use of equipment and documentation.
