Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), is seeking an enthusiastic specialist optometrist to join its busy ophthalmology team in Manchester. The role focuses on specialist optometry services with opportunities in cataract, glaucoma and macular care, reflecting our commitment to high‑quality eye care and professional development.

The post is Band 7, full-time (37.5 hours per week), fixed-term for 12 months, with some Saturday work.

Qualifications

• Registered with the GOC and hold a degree in Optometry.
• Previous hospital optometry experience is desirable.
• Applications for part-time positions may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly specialist clinical optometry across ophthalmic subspecialties.
• Work in a fast-moving environment with strong teamwork and professional conduct.
• Assist in training and supervising pre-registration optometrists and staff.
• Contribute to clinical research and teaching initiatives within the department.
