Job summary

Lonza in Manchester is seeking a Senior Specialist, HR Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement to drive global HR transformation, process optimization, and automation initiatives within HR Services Delivery.

You will partner with regional teams and stakeholders to implement Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, and AI-enabled solutions, delivering measurable improvements in employee experience and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt with HR process improvement experience.
• Strong data analysis with KPIs and actionable insights using Power BI & Excel.
• Experience with AI-enabled HR platforms (e.g., Workday) and workflow tools.
• Able to map HR processes and apply DMAIC, FMEA and process mapping.

Senior Specialist, HR Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom

Hybrid Working Policy - 2 days on site, 3 days WFH

The purpose of the role is to support the HR Operations & Delivery organization in delivering continuous improvement activities across Workforce lifecycle processes globally. Overall objective is to enhance the HR Services Delivery and Workforce Experience through establishing and embracing a culture of Continuous Improvement (LBMS).

You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the globe, such as regional HR Services teams, HR Digital, Business Process Managers, Quality and Compliance or HR Business Partners

What you will do:

• Champion Global Excellence: Support the global vision and strategic objectives for HR processes and technology, ensuring alignment with Lonza's goals.
• Lead Continuous Improvement: Implement and advocate for the LBMS framework within HR Services Delivery. Drive initiatives that promote lean concepts, including 6s, A3, and DMAIC, to streamline operations.
• Optimize HR Processes: Conduct comprehensive reviews of Payroll and HR processes to identify risks and opportunities. Use Lean and Six Sigma methods to develop and execute effective solutions, such as FMEA.
• Advance Business Processes: Introduce and maintain a Business Process Management Framework including service catalogues and process maps.
• Drive Key Projects: Apply Lonza Project Methodology to manage and deliver improvement projects. Facilitate workshops for problem-solving and process enhancement.
• Measure and Monitor: Collaborate across and stakeholders to establish and track key performance metrics. Utilize data analytics to drive decisions and measure progress.
• Foster Global Collaboration: Partner with colleagues across regions to replicate successful initiatives and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

• Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement: Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certified; experience leading HR process improvement initiatives using Lean, DMAIC, process mapping and root cause analysis.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, measure KPIs and generate actionable insights using tools such as Power BI and Excel.
• AI & Automation: Experience using Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT and AI-enabled HR platforms (e.g. Workday, ServiceNow). Exposure to workflow automation tools such as Power Automate, Automation Anywhere or other RPA solutions is advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Power BI, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint, with the ability to create dashboards, reports, process maps and business presentations.
• Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement: Experience driving adoption of continuous improvement initiatives, influencing stakeholders, facilitating workshops and supporting organisational change.
• Communication & Facilitation: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Organisation & Project Management: Highly organised with strong attention to detail, prioritisation skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Customer & Employee Experience Focus: Ability to identify pain points and support the design of efficient, user-centred HR processes and services.
