Job summary

Lonza Group Ltd. in Slough is seeking an Expert Biotechnologist on a permanent, full-time basis to advance a technical career path within Manufacturing, with hands-on work on fermentation and purification, maintaining GMP standards.

The role is site-based to enable close collaboration; you will lead projects, own systems, train staff, and support MSAT and process improvements, with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Experience leading GMP-regulated manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Acted as Manufacturing Representative for key manufacturing projects, providing operational support to ensure successful project implementation and delivery.
• Served as System Owner within Manufacturing, ensuring system compliance, reliability, and performance.
• Led troubleshooting activities, investigated deviations, and identified CAPAs to drive continuous improvement and maintain GMP compliance.
• Collaborated with cross-functional teams across multiple departments and sites to resolve operational challenges and support project objectives.
• Delivered technical equipment and process training to manufacturing personnel, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Supported Plant Leads and MSAT teams with process mapping initiatives to improve efficiency.
• Managed facility and fabrication works, coordinating activities to support manufacturing operations.
• Prepared and delivered technical presentations, protocols, and reports for internal stakeholders and project teams.
• Supported customer meetings by providing technical expertise and project updates.
• Performed additional duties to support manufacturing and business objectives.

We are currently seeking an Expert Biotechnologist (permanent, full-time) who wishes to continue a technical career path within Manufacturing, whilst gaining exposure to career progression without direct line management responsibility. This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

• Delivered technical equipment and process training to manufacturing personnel, ensuring adherence to operational standards and best practices.
• Supported Plant Leads and MSAT teams with process mapping initiatives to improve process efficiency and standardization.
• Managed facility and fabrication works, coordinating activities to support manufacturing operations and infrastructure requirements.
• Prepared and delivered technical presentations, protocols, and reports for internal stakeholders and project teams.
• Supported customer meetings by providing technical expertise, operational updates, and project-related information.
• Performed additional duties as required to support manufacturing, operational excellence, and business objectives.

Key Requirements:

• Degree or Master's qualification in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong manufacturing experience with leadership responsibility in GMP-regulated environments.
• Knowledge of fermentation, purification, and manufacturing operations.
• Understanding of quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve process and equipment issues.
• Strong communication and coaching abilities, with experience supporting and developing operational teams.
