Job summary

Astroscale UK (Harwell) seeks a Senior Computer Vision engineer to design, implement and deploy CV algorithms for space missions. You will work with the UK Algorithms and Software Group on sensors, 6DoF pose estimation, and system verification.

The role requires 5+ years of CV experience, strong Python/C/C++, and familiarity with OpenCV, TensorFlow, and PyTorch. Hybrid work with a modern facility supports collaboration with international teams.

Qualifications

• Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering/science field.
• 5+ years in computer vision algorithm development and deployment.
• Strong understanding of CV, image processing, ML/DL techniques.
• Experience bringing CV algorithms from concept to deployment.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proactive and able to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop CV algorithms for space object detection and tracking.
• Define subsystem architectures and performance budgets aligned to missions.
• Support hardware procurement for CV sensors and integration testing.
• Contribute to verification, validation, and system-level testing activities.
• Collaborate with Systems, GNC, Flight Dynamics, and other teams.
