San Carlo Covent Garden is hiring a Senior Sous Chef to lead daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. You will manage, train, and schedule kitchen staff while upholding food safety and company procedures.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, mentoring Sous Chefs, and driving a positive, efficient team culture in a fast-paced Italian restaurant group with extensive UK and international opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2 year’s experience in a similar role
• Team management experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail, highly organised and capable of handling multiple tasks
• A proactive self-starter who can work independently with good judgement and minimal direction

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Overall responsibility of food quality and presentation, sent out to customers
• Managing kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling
• Maintaining a positive and engaged team through 1:1 meetings, incentives and recognition
• Inductions for all new starters in line with company procedure
• Manage the Sous Chefs to ensure all training is to company standards
• Ensuring that all kitchen staff follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and kitchen procedures
• Managing food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
• Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff and restaurant management to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner
• Handling customer complaints or issues related to food quality or service
• Treat everyone with respect and remain calm at all times
