Compass Group UK is recruiting a Senior Sous Chef to join a busy kitchen operation in Oxford. You will support the Executive and Head Chef, lead a team of 9 chefs, and ensure outstanding food quality and service across multiple concepts.

Responsibilities include menu planning, seasonal development, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. You will drive cost control, stock management, and recruitment support while fostering a positive kitchen culture.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team of chefs in a busy kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and HACCP standards.
• Ability to plan menus and manage food costs.

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Predominantly Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Executive Chef and Head Chef in the day-to-day management of a busy kitchen operation.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 9 chefs, ensuring high standards of food quality and service delivery.
• Take ownership of kitchen operations and lead the team confidently in the absence of the Executive Chef and Head Chef.
• Work across a varied and dynamic multi-outlet operation, delivering consistently high standards in each area.
• Produce exceptional food across multiple concepts, cuisines, and service styles.
• Assist with menu planning, seasonal food development, and maintaining an innovative food offer.
• Ensure all food safety, health & safety, and company compliance standards are met at all times.
• Monitor stock control, ordering, waste management, and food cost targets.
• Support recruitment, training, and succession planning within the kitchen team.
• Build a positive kitchen culture through strong leadership, organisation, and effective communication.
