Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Principal Engineer – Solution Design & Architecture to provide senior technical leadership across Wealth Management engineering teams. You will ensure solutions are well designed, scalable, secure and aligned with enterprise architecture principles, acting as a bridge between Engineering and Architecture across multiple products and initiatives.

Working closely with Architects, Engineering Directors and Delivery teams, you will guide design decisions, promote engineering

Qualifications

Significant experience as a Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, Solution Architect or equivalent senior leadership role.
Strong background in solution design and software engineering across complex enterprise platforms.
Experience designing scalable, secure, and resilient distributed systems.
Deep understanding of modern engineering practices including APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, cloud platforms and DevSecOps.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication across Engineers, Architects, Product and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead the design of complex technology solutions across Wealth Management platforms, ensuring alignment with objectives and architectural principles.
Partner with engineering teams to develop scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across discovery, design and delivery phases.
Provide technical leadership and guidance on solution design decisions across multiple teams.
Review and challenge designs for scalability, security, performance and operability considerations.
Mentor engineering leads and engineers in architectural thinking and design patterns.
