Senior Litigation Solicitor,Head of Department

Hitchin, Hertfordshire

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Litigation Solicitor to join our dynamic team as Head of Department.The successful candidate will handle complex and high value litigation matters and take on a varied and challenging caseload, working on property disputes, landlord and tenant disputes, commercial disputes (to include partnership and shareholder disputes), boundary disputes, professional negligence and insolvency and restructuring.

The role involves managing high-value, complex disputes and offers scope for progression to Partner, collaborating closely with partners and other departments across the firm. You will also initiate business development and help shape the future of the Litigation department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse caseload of litigation matters, ensuring high-quality service and client satisfaction.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
• Engage in business development activities to expand the firm’s client base and enhance its reputation in the market.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations to provide accurate and effective advice.

Requirements:

• A strong background in civil litigation with a minimum 7 years PQE in litigation.
• Proven supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and develop a team.
• Strong business development skills and a proactive approach to client engagement. You should be willing to network in order to make a name for yourself locally and to bring in new clients and contacts to the firm.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Proven track record of meeting billing targets and collection of fees.
