Citi in London is seeking a senior software engineer/lead to design and deliver complex application systems within a global finance platform. You will drive architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with business units to implement scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in applications development or systems analysis.
• Deep expertise in system analysis and software programming.
• Ability to manage technology projects end-to-end across teams.
• Domain expertise in at least one applications development area.
• Strong T-shaped engineering skills combining tech depth with business understanding.
• Leadership and project management experience guiding mid-level engineers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to reprioritize quickly in changing conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of application systems and software, ensuring alignment with architecture blueprints.
• Partner with management teams to define system enhancements for new products and process improvements.
• Resolve high-impact technical problems through deep analysis of processes and industry standards.
• Develop and enforce standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Build knowledge of how architecture, infrastructure, and business functions interconnect.
• Translate business context into well-scoped technical solutions across the full lifecycle.
• Apply AI-assisted coding tools with rigorous validation to safeguard quality and security.
• Mentor mid-level developers, providing technical guidance and workload planning.
• Assess risk and ensure regulatory compliance and transparent issue escalation.
