Job summary

Oxford Instruments Andor in Belfast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer- Software Applications to design, develop and maintain customer-facing Windows desktop applications using C# and .NET, contributing to multiple products and interfacing with scientific instrumentation.

You will work in an Agile team, deliver full software lifecycle, participate in reviews, and travel occasional. The role requires a degree in CS or related and at least 5 years' experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in commercial software development.
• Significant hands-on experience with C# and .NET.
• Experience delivering software through the full SDLC.
• Experience in Agile software development teams.
• Experience developing and supporting commercial desktop software applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and support customer-facing Windows desktop applications using C# and .NET.
• Contribute to delivery of software across multiple products and projects within the Software Applications portfolio.
• Develop software interfacing with scientific instrumentation and hardware for experiment control and automation.
• Implement solutions for data acquisition, processing, storage and analysis.
• Contribute to data visualisation capabilities, including 3D/4D rendering and imaging applications.
• Investigate and resolve defects, performance issues and customer-reported problems.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and domain experts to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Support software releases, deployment and product maintenance.

• Write clean, maintainable and testable code in accordance with engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the development team.
• Collaborate with software engineers, test engineers, product managers and domain experts to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Support software releases, deployment activities and ongoing product maintenance.
• Share technical knowledge and support colleagues through collaboration and peer review.
• Occasional travel to other offices and customer sites

The Senior Software Engineer- Software Applications Will Have

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent professional experience in delivering commercial software solutions
• At least 5 years' experience in commercial software development.
• Significant hands-on experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
• Proven experience delivering complex software solutions through the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience working within Agile software development teams.
• Experience developing and supporting commercial desktop software applications.

This permanent position is based at our Belfast headquarters working a hybrid model.
