Job summary

The Ellison Institute Of Technology (EIT) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the SciComp team in the UK. You will design and build robust services powering scientific applications, integrating ML inference servers, hardware interfaces, and data pipelines while owning the full production path from design to deployment.

You will collaborate with Data Engineers, AI Scientists, and Software Engineers, applying best practices for code quality, security, and observability, and contribute to

Qualifications

• MSc or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Extensive experience as a Software Engineer with Python and distributed systems in production.
• Experience designing, managing, and exposing functionality via clean APIs (REST, gRPC).
• Proven experience implementing and managing robust CI/CD pipelines and reproducible workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust services (APIs, CLI tools, modules) for scientific applications.
• Bridge components: ML inference servers, hardware interfaces, data pipelines; ensure low latency and high availability.
• Own the full production path from architectural design to deployment and observability.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, AI Scientists, Software Engineers, and Domain Experts.
• Champion software engineering best practices across the team, including code quality and security.
