Job summary

Olo is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Merchant Solutions team within the Pay engineering group. This fully remote role is based in Belfast/Northern Ireland, with responsibilities spanning card-present and card-not-present flows, reconciliation, reporting, payouts, and merchant account management.

You’ll own complex features, lead code reviews, mentor peers, and drive architecture decisions. You’ll work with AWS, MongoDB Atlas, Kubernetes/EKS, and modern AI coding assistants like

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Highly proficient in .Net/C# and capable of designing and implementing complex algorithms and architectures.
• Skilled in CI/CD with GitHub Actions, TeamCity, and Octopus Deploy.
• Expert in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing with automation.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and cloud services (AWS, MongoDB Atlas, Kubernetes/EKS).
• Demonstrates technical leadership and collaboration across teams to deliver aligned solutions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in the team's domain and technology stack, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical decisions.
• Address technical debt while delivering features, ensuring maintainable, scalable codebases through refactoring.
• Own complex features and projects, work independently and with teammates from concept to delivery.
• Lead code reviews, set quality standards, and provide feedback to improve code quality.
• Partner with Product and stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure solutions align with business goals.
• Deliver reliable, maintainable software with performance optimisations and resilience mechanisms.
• Monitor production services and diagnose critical issues with minimal support.
• Contribute to architecture and design of distributed systems and best practices.
• Improve development processes and tooling, promoting best practices and automation.
• Ensure consistency and quality in shared components and APIs.
• Contribute to knowledge base and lead learning sessions.
