Job summary

Imagination is seeking a software engineer to design and implement an orchestration layer for a silicon/IP platform. You will build scalable, testable workflows using a modern engine, with strong typing and robust error handling.

Collaboration with infrastructure and emphasis on code quality and observability are central. You will work primarily in Python, applying SOLID principles, writing unit and integration tests, and delivering clean, maintainable modules.

Qualifications

• Strong command of Python or similar language.
• Understanding of SOLID, OOP and composition-based architectures.
• Proven ability to write testable code with dependency injection and mocking.
• Experience building composable software with small modules.
• Familiarity with asynchronous programming (Python asyncio).
• Experience designing data models and using type checking to prevent errors.
• Solid handling of error/retry/failure modes.
• Familiarity with Git, CI pipelines and automated testing.
• Comfortable in Linux and calling external CLIs safely.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement orchestration logic using a modern workflow engine, decomposing monolithic pipelines into small, reusable units.
• Apply SOLID principles to keep orchestration code maintainable as complexity grows.
• Define clear, strongly-typed data contracts between pipeline stages.
• Design retry, checkpoint, and resume logic for long-running jobs.
• Implement human-in-the-loop patterns for review/approval and rerouting on input.
• Write thorough automated tests for orchestration logic including edge cases.
• Build observability into the application layer with structured logging and metrics.
• Collaborate with platform/infrastructure to consume infrastructure via defined interfaces.
• Participate in code reviews to improve readability and maintainability.
• Contribute to technical docs and onboarding materials.
