Job summary

Lightning AI seeks a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer to join the Infrastructure Engineering team. You will build production software to manage large-scale GPU and bare-metal infrastructure, bridging hardware and software for AI/ML workloads.

You will design provisioning, monitoring, and automation systems, collaborate across teams, and operate in a software-first, scalable environment. Hybrid/remote options available.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Experience building production backend systems and APIs.
• Strong Linux production experience and automation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production services, APIs, tooling, and automation for large-scale infrastructure.
• Build systems for provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management of infrastructure.
• Develop automation to reduce manual work and improve reliability and scalability.
• Create interfaces to interact programmatically with physical infrastructure.
• Extend provisioning and lifecycle tooling across large compute fleets.
• Automate bring-up and capacity deployment across fleets.
• Integrate software with hardware management systems.
• Improve workflows for production infrastructure lifecycle.
• Develop telemetry and observability capabilities for infrastructure health.
• Diagnose and respond to hardware and infrastructure issues.
• Translate issues into software/tooling improvements.
• Improve reliability and scalability as fleet grows.
• Collaborate with Networking, Data Center Ops, and Platform Eng to define requirements.
• Participate in architecture discussions and set technical direction.
• Document designs and engineering best practices.
