Job summary

Optos plc in Dunfermline is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Optomechanical team within the Research and Development department. In this role, you will design and develop advanced optomechanical systems that underpin our retinal imaging products and improvements to the existing portfolio.

Qualifications

Bachelor-level degree in mechanical or optomechanical engineering or equivalent.
Extensive design experience on complex multi-component systems.
Experience with motors and precision motion systems in assemblies.
Proficient in CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis and PLM documentation control.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

Lead concept development and system-level mechanical design.
Develop innovative designs for complex assemblies.
Produce, review, and approve drawings, BOMs and PLM docs.
Manage small projects with on-time delivery.
Drive design reviews, FMEA, verification testing and compliance.
Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Mentor junior engineers and promote best-practice design.
