Job summary

Experis Scotland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a team building and evolving its technology platform in Scotland with flexible remote working. You will influence architectural decisions and own core technical delivery, spanning application development and underlying infrastructure.

You’ll work to design, develop, and maintain Java/Spring Boot applications, build microservices and APIs, and contribute to evolving platform architecture with cloud and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing microservices and APIs.
• Understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with Azure or another cloud platform such as AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and deployment processes.
• An interest in infrastructure, platform engineering and building systems from the ground up.
• Someone comfortable working in a smaller team, taking ownership and helping shape technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Building and evolving microservices-based platforms and APIs.
• Contributing to architectural decisions as the platform continues to develop.
• Working with API gateways and service integrations to support business applications.
• Getting hands-on with infrastructure, cloud services and platform development.
• Building and improving CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes.
• Taking ownership of core technical delivery, from design through to deployment.
• Working closely with the wider engineering team to introduce new technologies and improve engineering standards.
