Job summary

CreateFuture in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, London or remote locations seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable Java, Node.js and AWS backends. You will shape architecture, mentor engineers, and drive AI/automation initiatives across client engagements. Strong design sense, collaboration and delivery focus are essential.

You will design APIs, manage microservices, and champion testing, security and performance while working across cross‑functional teams and client projects.

Qualifications

• High‑level Java, Node.js and AWS backend development experience.
• Strong design of scalable, secure REST APIs and microservices.
• Experience with Spring ecosystem, data persistence and messaging.
• Proven ability to lead design decisions and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend systems using Java, Node.js and AWS.
• Lead technical design and architectural discussions; ensure maintainability and performance.
• Develop and evolve RESTful APIs with focus on security and reliability.
• Drive engineering excellence through tests, docs and code reviews.
