Job summary

Oxford Instruments Andor is seeking a Senior Software Engineer- Software Applications to design, develop and support customer-facing Windows desktop applications used to control experiments on scientific instrumentation. You will work primarily with C# and .NET, delivering robust software across multiple products and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes full SDLC delivery, hands-on development, data acquisition and advanced visualization.

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
At least 5 years' experience in commercial software development.
Significant hands-on experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
Proven experience delivering complex software through the full SDLC.
Experience working in Agile software development teams.
Experience developing and supporting commercial desktop software.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and support customer-facing Windows desktop applications using C# and .NET.
Contribute to software delivery across multiple products within the Software Applications portfolio.
Interface software with scientific instrumentation and hardware for experiment control.
Implement data acquisition, processing, storage and analysis solutions.
Develop data visualization capabilities including 3D/4D rendering and imaging.
Investigate defects, performance issues and customer-reported problems.
Contribute to architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
Write clean, maintainable, testable code and participate in code reviews.
