Job summary

Faculty AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Defence team in the UK. You will lead backend and edge/IoT development, bridging ML research and production-grade software while mentoring peers in a fast-paced environment.

Expect to work 2–4 days on-site with defence clients, with London-based or UK-wide flexibility when not on-site. You will ship code in Python and at least one compiled language (e.g., Rust, C++, Go, C#, or Java) and implement scalable CI/CD with Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on experience in application development and modern system design.
• Track record shipping code used by paying customers in Python and a compiled language.
• Strong DevOps experience including GitLab CI/CD, Docker and production deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design robust backend and edge/IoT components for diverse client deliverables.
• Scope and solve bounded technical problems for high-velocity delivery.
• Ship production-ready code in Python and a compiled language.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices within the squad.
• Collaborate with ML/DS teams to operationalise AI tooling.
