Job summary

Fideres in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help expand, build and maintain the data infrastructure and software libraries that support the quantitative research of our economists. You will gather requirements and contribute to sprint planning, working with Kanban and sprint cycles, with a stack centered on Python, containers, IaC, CI/CD and Azure.

The role covers API development, web scraping infrastructure, ETL pipelines and production services, with opportunities to influence

Qualifications

• A strong interest or background in financial markets and economics with a commitment to fair, transparent markets.
• A relevant degree in computer science, economics or finance.
• Excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills; able to disaggregate issues and recommend solutions.
• Self-motivated, delivery-focused, and capable of handling multiple responsibilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain complex topics to non-specialists.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute projects, breaking work into tasks and estimating effort.
• Collaborate with economists to build tools and systems for quantitative research.
• Develop and deploy API services and web scraping infrastructure.
• Contribute to design reviews and technical guidance for junior developers.
• Lead production services and troubleshoot as needed; guide architectural direction.
