Job summary

MCS Group is helping a growing Belfast team recruit a Senior Software Engineer. You will play a central role in a major platform programme, owning complex integrations and guiding the platform's future.

The role focuses on full-stack development with a backend lean, using React, Ruby and AWS, and offers significant ownership within an expanding Belfast team, with opportunities to work with US engineering counterparts and incorporate AI coding assistants throughout the development lifecycle.

Over the past year, I've successfully partnered with this business on multiple hires, helping build its Belfast team to 18 people. Now, as an exclusive recruitment partner, I'm supporting its next phase of growth with opportunities for Senior Software Engineers.

The Belfast team will play a central role in a substantial technology programme, taking ownership of complex integrations and helping shape the platform's future.

What you'll get stuck into

• Building full-stack applications, with a strong focus on backend engineering.

• Connecting modern software with large-scale enterprise systems.

• Shaping architecture and technical decisions alongside experienced engineers.

• Working closely with product colleagues in Belfast and engineering teams in the US.

What you'll bring

You'll have six or more years of software engineering experience, strong technical fundamentals and an interest in solving complex integration challenges.

The core stack is React, Ruby and AWS, but there's flexibility for engineers coming from other backend languages or modern frontend frameworks. Your ability to learn, make sound engineering decisions and deliver reliable software matters.

Full-stack capability with a backend leaning would suit the work particularly well, and practical experience using AI coding assistants is essential.
