Job summary

VANRATH in Belfast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Back End to join a global technology leader. You will design, develop and maintain distributed, event-driven, cloud-native applications using .NET, C#, and modern APIs.

You will collaborate with Solution Architects and Principal Engineers, take ownership from design through deployment and support, mentor peers, and contribute to continuous improvement in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing and maintaining distributed, event-driven and cloud-native systems.
• Strong commercial experience with C# and modern .NET technologies, including .NET Framework and .NET Core.
• Strong experience designing and developing APIs, particularly REST and/or GraphQL.
• Relational database design and optimisation, ideally MSSQL and/or MySQL.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing solutions within AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience working within Agile development environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to validate technical approaches through proof-of-concepts.
• Experience developing and implementing automated testing solutions for complex systems.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop and maintain distributed, event-driven and cloud-native applications. You will work closely with Solution Architects and Principal Engineers to deliver robust solutions while taking ownership of engineering deliverables from design through to deployment and ongoing support.

  Experience designing, developing and maintaining distributed, event-driven and cloud-native systems.

  Solid understanding of relational database design and optimisation, ideally MSSQL and/or MySQL.

  Hands-on experience deploying and managing solutions within AWS and/or Azure.

  Strong understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• 
  Experience working within Agile development environments.
• 
  Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to validate technical approaches through proof-of-concepts.

  Ability to balance technical innovation with pragmatic delivery and tight deadlines.

  Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  Experience developing applications using WPF.

  Previous experience within financial services, fintech, trading or other regulated environments.
• 
  Knowledge of FIX protocol and FIX message handling.
• 
  Experience with AWS services, serverless architecture and microservices.
• 
  Familiarity with Java, JavaScript and/or React.
• 
  Understanding of TDD, BDD or similar testing methodologies.
• 
  Experience working with high-volume, highly available or low-latency systems.
