Tripadvisor is seeking a product-focused Senior Software Engineer to join its Experiences Engineering team. This full-stack role leverages Java, SQL, React, AWS and AI tools, empowering you to build and scale systems used by millions of travelers worldwide.

We offer a remote-first model with periodic in-person gatherings at London, Oxford, Krakow, or Lisbon offices. You’ll lead technical design, mentor peers, and drive architectural decisions that balance speed, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience in distributed systems and scalable backend design in cloud environments.
Proficiency in a modern backend language (e.g., Java, C#, Go, Python) and familiarity with frontend frameworks.
Experience coding with AI tools and platforms (e.g., Cursor/Codex/Claude/Open Code).
Ability to navigate trade-offs between non-functional requirements and delivery speed.
Proven collaborative leadership and cross-functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end feature design, balancing security, privacy, and performance.
Translate strategy into concrete technical specs and act as technical lead on multi-quarter initiatives.
Elevate the engineering team by raising code quality and mentoring engineers.
Utilize AI tools strategically to plan approaches and set monitoring standards.
Architect resilient systems with fault-tolerant designs and scalable operations.
Identify opportunities to simplify or retire legacy code to boost velocity.
