A professional services organisation is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join on a contract basis with an immediate start. This is a hands-on development role where the majority of your time will be spent designing, building, testing, and deploying software solutions. You will take existing prototypes and evolve them into production-ready tools used by business stakeholders on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop features for regulatory, compliance, and document-management applications, taking proven concepts through to production and delivering improvements in small, frequent releases.
- Select the most appropriate technical approach for each challenge, combining deterministic rules, document processing, OCR, and generative AI, with a focus on explainable and auditable outputs where required.
- Build and maintain LLM-powered capabilities, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, representative test datasets, and defined performance thresholds for accuracy, latency, and cost.
- Work closely with business and subject matter experts to translate domain knowledge into reusable components, business rules, and terminology frameworks.
- Develop well-tested, maintainable code using source control, deploying through established CI/CD pipelines and producing clear technical documentation.
- Apply secure-by-design principles, including least-privilege access, secrets management, privacy controls, and dependency management, while participating in peer code reviews.
- Contribute to the technical roadmap and architecture of the platform, including cloud-hosting decisions and collaboration with infrastructure and IT teams.
Required Experience
- Senior-level software engineering experience, including building new products and supporting production systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure (including serverless, web application, storage, and AI services).
- Experience developing API-driven integrations, data-processing solutions, and distributed systems.
- Practical experience implementing LLM-based solutions, including prompt design, evaluation strategies, guardrails, and cost management using Azure OpenAI or equivalent technologies.
- Proven experience taking software products from prototype to production deployment and continuous enhancement.
- Ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders, converting business requirements into practical, testable deliverables.
- Experience with OCR, computer vision, PDF/document processing, content comparison, multilingual content handling, rules engines, or intelligent document-processing solutions.
- Python development experience for data processing, automation, or AI-related tooling.
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Microsoft Power Platform.
- Familiarity with containerisation, Git-based workflows, automated testing, and Azure DevOps CI/CD practices.
