Job summary

Morgan Hunt UK Limited is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on a 6-month contract with hybrid work (London, Cardiff or Glasgow). The role focuses on developing and supporting key digital services in an agile environment, with hands-on coding and software engineering leadership.

You'll drive engineering practices, CI/CD automation, and technology adoption while delivering core business applications in line with stakeholder needs.

Senior Software Engineer

6-Month Contract

£600-£650 per day (Inside IR35)

Hybrid (1 day per week in London, Cardiff or Glasgow)

SC Clearance is desirable but not essential

A leading governing body is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support the development and delivery of key digital services.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, agile environment, contributing to the design, development, and continuous improvement of business-critical applications.

The Role

You will play a key role in developing and supporting applications aligned to business requirements, working within multidisciplinary agile teams.

Alongside hands-on development, you'll contribute to technical decision-making, help introduce new technologies, and drive improvements in engineering practices such as CI/CD and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support core business applications
• Contribute to the technical design and delivery of software solutions
• Produce clear and effective technical documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Delivery, and DevOps
• Support the adoption of modern development practices and tools
• Identify and implement improvements to development processes (CI/CD, automation, testing)

Key Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Strong experience as a Microsoft Software Developer
• Proven expertise in:
  • C# / .NET (including .NET 6)
  • SQL Server development
  • Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Solid understanding of:
  • Agile methodologies
  • Software design patterns and development techniques
  • Relational database design
  • Unit testing frameworks (e.g. NUnit, Moq)
  • Version control (Git, Azure DevOps)

Additional / Desirable

• Experience with:
  • Microservices architecture
  • Entity Framework
  • Dependency Injection
  • Cloud platforms (Azure)
  • Containerisation (Docker)
• Experience working in complex, stakeholder-driven environments
• Relevant technical degree or certifications
