Job summary

Cisco's Webex Real-time Media Engineering Group in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to end-to-end development, testing, and delivery of new features for Webex products. You will work in a hybrid office setup, collaborating across DevOps, microservices, and AI-enabled workflows.

You will join an on-site team near Liverpool Street, participate in on-call rotations, and help advance Linux-based platforms with a strong emphasis on quality and rapid learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in an analytical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics).
  • 10+ years of professional programming experience in C++/C#, and the willingness to learn new languages quickly.
  • Experience with Linux development and software running on Linux.
  • Experience with virtual machines and containerisation technologies, and with Docker.

Responsibilities

  • Full Lifecycle Development: Design, develop, test, and deliver new features and improvements in an agile team.
  • DevOps & Microservices: Manage operational aspects of a highly available microservice architecture, including on-call rotation.

Our team is based in one of our central London offices, near Liverpool Street station. We operate a hybrid working model, meeting to collaborate in the office three times a week.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Analytical Degree: Bachelor's or higher degree in an analytical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics).
  • Coding Aptitude: 10+ years of professional programming experience in C++/C#, and the willingness to learn new languages quickly.
  • Experience with Linux development: Experience with using Linux and developing software running on Linux.
  • Experience with virtualisation and containers: An understanding of virtual machines and containerisation technologies, and experience with Docker.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Windows development
  • Experience with data science / AI
  • Knowledge of networks and networking protocols (such as TCP/IP and HTTP)
  • Exposure to cryptography
  • Familiarity with audio and video coding, processing techniques, and technologies (such as Opus or H.264)
  • Familiarity with Git, DevOps, continuous integration, continuous delivery
