Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. in London is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Rust to join the Webex Real-time Media Engineering Group.

You will contribute to full lifecycle development, build robust microservices, and help maintain a highly available platform powering Webex products across devices and locations. You will work in a hybrid model from our central London office near Moorgate, participate in on-call rotations, and grow your skills with mentorship and formal training from a supportive

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher in an analytical field (e.g. CS, Engineering, Maths, Physics).
  • 3+ years of programming experience in Rust or C++ with the ability to contribute across Rust/Java/C++/Python codebases as needed.
  • Experience with Linux development and running software on Linux.
  • Experience with virtualization and containers, including Docker.

Responsibilities

  • Full lifecycle development in an agile team to design, build, test and deliver new features.
  • DevOps & microservices: operate and contribute to a highly available microservice architecture, including on-call duties.
  • Tackle varied problems with a data-driven, quality-focused mindset and rapid learning.
  • Own tasks from feature development to automated testing and issue investigation with high attention to detail.
  • Explore applying AI to daily workflows to improve productivity and drive growth.
  • Receive mentorship and formal training from a supportive team to accelerate growth.

Your Impact

  • Full Lifecycle Development: Work in an agile team to design, develop, test, and deliver new features and improvements to our products.
  • DevOps & Microservices: Be trained on and help manage the operational side of ourhighly availablemicroservice architecture, including being part of an on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Analytical Degree: Bachelor's or higher degree in an analytical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics).
  • Coding Aptitude:3+ years ofprogramming experienceinRust orC++and the willingness to learn new languages quickly.Withtheexpectation tocontributeacrossRust/Java/C++/Pythoncodebases asrequired.
  • Experience with Linux development: Experience with using Linux and developing software running on Linux.
  • Experience with virtualisation and containers: An understanding of virtual machines and containerisation technologies, and experience with Docker.

Preferred Qualifications:

Any of the following skills would be particularlyadvantageous, but we welcome applications without these:

  • Experience with data science / AI
  • Familiarity withNATS.io
  • Knowledge of networks and networking protocols (such as TCP/IP and HTTP)
  • Exposure to cryptography
  • Familiarity withSIP,audioand video coding, processing techniques, andrelatedtechnologies
  • Familiarity with Git, DevOps, continuous integration, continuous delivery
