Capital One is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join a backend team in our London office.

What you’ll do

1. You’ll work as part of a self-organised Services engineering team to design and develop software features that impact credit card consumers across various demographics.
2. Your focus will be on significant components, features, or services within the team’s software.
3. You’ll align with the goals and vision shared by Product Management and your Tribe Leadership.
4. Drive engineering best practices such as Operational Excellence, Security, and Quality across your team and wider engineering groups.
5. Innovate within your team and contribute to your technical domain.

What we’re looking for

1. Proven experience in technical leadership with a passion for mentoring engineers.
2. Knowledge in creating architectural designs that meet business needs.
3. Exceptional programming skills, particularly in building APIs using modern OO languages like Java, and understanding of SOLID principles, SOA, HTTP, and REST.
4. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams to maximize inner sourcing and reduce waste.
5. Proven ability to deliver high-quality applications at scale.
6. Advocacy for quality, leveraging practices such as Pair Programming, TDD, and BDD.

This is a permanent role based in our London office, with a hybrid work model allowing work from home. You will work on-site three days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
