Spectrum IT in Ramsgate, Kent is seeking a Senior Software Developer to own technical delivery for AI and SaaS initiatives, turning ambitious ideas into reliable software and laying foundations for a commercial SaaS business.
You will join a small team building an operational platform for dispatch, driver management and recruitment, plus finance and reporting, with AI-powered automation and new logistics applications on the horizon.
Location: Ramsgate, Kent
Salary: Up to £85,000 depending on experience
Working pattern: Office-based, five days per week
Contract: Permanent
A logistics business is building its own software and AI technology to transform how it operates, with plans to take those products to the wider market.
The software is already being used within the business, with new applications approaching launch and further products in development. They now need an experienced developer who can take ownership of technical delivery, turn ambitious ideas into reliable software and help build the foundations of a commercial SaaS business.
You will join a small software development team within an established logistics business that is investing in its own technology. The company has developed a new operational platform covering areas such as dispatch, driver management and recruitment, alongside a finance and reporting application integrating with Xero. Both are progressing towards wider deployment, with plans to develop them into commercial SaaS products. There are also further projects underway, including AI-powered automation, intelligent agents and new logistics applications. Your role will be to help turn these developments into secure, scalable and commercially viable software.
This is a hands-on position. You will be expected to write and review code, solve problems and take responsibility for delivering working software.
The priority is someone who has experience building and maintaining SaaS applications and understands what it takes to deliver reliable software into production.
Experience with LLMs, AI agents, RAG, vector databases or workflow automation tools would be useful, but you don't need to have worked with every technology.
The business is at an interesting stage. It has the advantage of developing software within a live logistics operation, giving the engineering team direct access to the people using its products and the problems they need to solve. You will work closely with the founder, who brings extensive industry experience and a clear vision for the technology, alongside a small development team. It is a collaborative, hands-on environment where priorities can change as products evolve. The role requires someone comfortable with that level of involvement, rather than a highly structured development environment with narrowly defined responsibilities. The longer-term ambition is to establish a commercial software business, with the potential for future discussions around equity for someone who becomes instrumental to its growth. This is not a guaranteed part of the package.
The position is based on-site in Ramsgate , five days per week, reflecting the need to work closely with the development team and wider business.
If you're an experienced developer who enjoys building products, solving complex problems and seeing the direct impact of your work, we'd be interested in speaking with you.
