Job summary

BAE Systems in Coventry is seeking a Principle Engineer – Software Assurance to lead the software assurance activities across complex systems. You will collaborate with system designers and suppliers to ensure safety, quality and reliability of delivered products, ensuring requirements are met and risks are properly managed.

The role offers hybrid working (3 days on site) with relocation support packages across Submarines roles, subject to eligibility.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and experience of Software Assurance methods and processes, including audit and review.
• Ability to plan and lead software assurance activities such as reviews, audits, inspections and test witnessing.
• Understanding of safety, quality and security standards including DO-178B/C, DO-254 and DO-331.
• Knowledge of various software types and the software lifecycle across systems engineering contexts.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to software assurance strategy and apply it across complex software-intensive systems.
• Plan and lead software assurance activities, including reviews, audits, inspections and test witnessing.
• Critically assess software plans, requirements, architectures, designs and verification evidence against risks, requirements and standards.
• Influence engineering decisions across the lifecycle, working with developers, system designers, suppliers and other engineering disciplines.
• Assess software risk and assurance evidence, providing authoritative conclusions and recommendations to customers, engineering authorities and senior leadership.
• Lead by example increasing software assurance capability, mentoring engineers and advancing standards, methods, tools and engineering practice.
