Elysium Healthcare's Thornford Park in Thatcham is seeking a Senior Forensic Social Worker to manage a caseload of forensic service users with mental health conditions and to contribute to their recovery journey.

You will lead assessments, CPA reports, Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings, supervise junior staff, promote safeguarding, and work within a multidisciplinary team supported regionally.

Qualifications

• Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar forensic/mental health environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams on safeguarding and capacity decisions.
• Liaise with external agencies (MAPPA, Local Authorities, Police, Probation).
• Support carers and families of detained patients.
• Lead safeguarding investigations and deliver safeguarding training.

Job description

Are you a Senior Forensic Social Worker looking to join a company that values and recognises you? Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will manage and support a caseload of forensic service users with mental health conditions. You will be responsible for assessments, CPA reports, Mental Health Tribunals, Managers Hearings and will be requested to supervise junior staff members. As a senior member of the team, you will lead and promote child and adult safeguarding and will empower recovery to encourage service users to engage in their care plans and achieve their goals. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.

Other Responsibilities

• Lead the multidisciplinary teams on non-medical mental capacity issues and best interest decisions
• Liaising with external agencies to enable them to fulfill their statutory duties, for example: MAPPA, Local Authority Social Services, Police and Probation
• Supporting carers and families of detained patients
• Lead on safeguarding investigations, supporting with the delivery of safeguarding training
• Supervising qualified social workers, under additional responsibilities

Requirements

• A Social Work qualification
• Registration with Social Work England
• Have a good working knowledge of the relevant legislation
• Have at least 2 years’ experience of working in a similar environment
