Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to provide senior leadership within the Family Advice, Support and Protection Hub in Cardiff. The role focuses on ensuring timely risk assessments, safeguarding decisions and early identification of children and families at risk.

You will review referrals, lead multi‑agency safeguarding strategy meetings, supervise a small team, allocate referrals and collaborate with partner agencies to drive service improvements.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with relevant Social Work degree or equivalent.
• Current Social Work England registration.
• Significant experience in children’s social care and safeguarding.
• Experience completing risk assessments and managing complex referrals.
• Experience supervising and supporting Social Workers.
• Strong knowledge of child protection procedures and multi-agency safeguarding.
• Excellent communication, leadership and decision‑making skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and assessing incoming contacts and referrals.
• Identifying safeguarding concerns and assessing levels of risk.
• Leading multi-agency safeguarding strategy meetings.
• Supervising and supporting a small team of Social Workers.
• Supporting referral allocations and authorising social work assessments.
• Working closely with partner agencies to ensure effective safeguarding.
• Supporting service development and improvement initiatives.
