Job summary

The Sleep Service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in Trafford General Hospital is seeking an experienced Sleep Physiologist to join a dynamic, teaching-focused team. The role involves supporting service leadership, conducting and analysing sleep studies, CPAP management, and contributing to teaching and supervision of staff and students.

The service operates across a large North West catchment and supports flexible working, including possible evening/night shifts to meet demand.

Qualifications

BSc Physiological sciences or Practitioner Training Programme or equivalent.
RCCP/AHCS registration or eligible to register.
Post-registration qualification in specialist sleep areas.
Documented evidence of good clinical practice and continued professional development.
Experience with polysomnography and sleep diagnostics is desirable.

Responsibilities

Leading the department day-to-day in partnership with the service manager.
Performing and analysing in-patient and outpatient sleep studies (polysomnography, polygraphy, multiple sleep latency testing, actigraphy).
CPAP issue and follow-up (face-to-face and remote clinics).
Teaching, training and mentoring of students and junior staff.
Supervision and line management of junior staff, stock control and procurement.
Service improvement, audit and quality control.
