Job summary

Finova in Manchester is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join a new reliability engineering team. You will own observability, automation, and incident response, shaping reliable platform services across Google Cloud Platform.

The role emphasizes SRE practices, SLOs, toil reduction, and collaboration with platform and infrastructure teams to modernise our financial services platform.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in software engineering and tooling development.
• Production experience with distributed architectures in cloud environments (Azure/AWS).
• Experience with observability, telemetry, and SRE practices (SLOs, error budgets, toil reduction).

Responsibilities

• Own observability, automated recovery, and workflow automation for major platform segments.
• Eliminate toil via automation, self-healing, and proactive fault detection.
• Partner with engineering to set meaningful SLOs and error budgets.
• Lead incident responses as part of a compensated escalation rota and run blameless post-incident reviews.
• Design and test failover and disaster recovery programs to meet client commitments.
• Mentor teams, perform code reviews, and produce runbooks for support teams.
