Job description

Senior Site Manager – New-Build Care Home
Location: Slough
Project: £10 million new-build care home
Salary: £68,000 to £75,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus
We're working with an established main contractor that specialises in building care homes for repeat clients across the region. Due to a newly secured project, they are looking for an experienced Senior Site Manager to take the lead on a new £10 million care home on the outskirts of Slough.

The project will provide around 70 bedrooms across two storeys and will be delivered under a traditional contract. Demolition and groundworks are starting shortly, with an overall build programme of approximately 12 months.

You will take full responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of the project from the early stages through to completion and handover. You will be supported on site by an Assistant Site Manager and Foreman, with a Contracts Manager visiting regularly.

Your Role

As Senior Site Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the project from demolition and groundworks through to final handover.
  • Managing the site team, subcontractors and day-to-day construction activities.
  • Planning and coordinating works to keep the project on programme.
  • Producing short-term programmes and monitoring progress against key dates.
  • Working closely with the Contracts Manager, Quantity Surveyor and design team.
  • Chairing subcontractor meetings and regular site progress meetings.
  • Reviewing drawings and resolving technical, design and buildability issues.
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety across the site.
  • Managing quality checks, inspections, snagging and close-out.
  • Keeping accurate site records and providing clear progress reports.
  • Building a strong working relationship with the client and professional team.
  • Managing commissioning and ensuring a smooth final handover.
What We're Looking For

You will be an experienced Senior Site Manager with a strong main contracting background and a proven record of delivering new-build projects. Experience within care homes would be ideal, although candidates from other multi-room projects will also be considered, including:

  • Build to Rent.
  • Student accommodation.
  • Hotels.
  • Residential developments.

You will also need:

  • Experience taking a new-build project from groundworks through to completion.
  • A good understanding of traditional construction contracts.
  • The ability to lead an on-site team and manage multiple subcontractor packages.
  • Strong programming, planning and organisational skills.
  • Good technical knowledge and a clear focus on quality.
  • The ability to identify problems early and deal with them quickly.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.
  • A full UK driving licence.
