Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Senior Site Manager to join the Energy Team working on the SSE ASTI Framework. You will lead site activities, manage contractors, and ensure delivery on time and to the required standards.

The role requires a strong background in civil engineering/construction schemes, solid site/contract management experience, and health and safety qualifications. You will coordinate with clients and Murphy teams to achieve safe, timely completion of projects across the UK.

Qualifications

  • HNC Building Studies or a degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.
  • Experience in delivering Civil Engineering / Construction Schemes.
  • Extensive background in site/contract management delivering contracts of similar value.
  • Solid health and safety knowledge and a health and safety qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver all work on small/medium sites, ensuring on-time delivery and standards.
  • Plan, review, and deliver short/medium contract programmes.
  • Monitor progress and expenditure; escalate critical issues as needed.
  • Line manage Section Managers and supervisors/contractors.
  • Provide periodic client updates on project progress.
  • Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed.
  • Review resources to ensure adequate plant, labour and materials.
  • Maintain client/subcontractor engagement for safe, timely completion.
  • Coordinate site activities with customer specifications and Murphy procedures.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Site Manager:


  • Plan and deliver all work on a small/medium sized site or a few smaller sites, ensuring work is completed on time and to the agreed standard.

  • Ensure short and medium contract programmes are planned, reviewed, and delivered.

  • Monitor progress periodically against the project plan and monitor expenditure for labour plant & materials, resolving issues but may escalating critical operational issues to the Project Manager.

  • Line management of Section Managers and other workflow supervisors/contractors.

  • Provide periodic updates to clients on project/contract progress, typically operational in nature.

  • Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed as and when required

  • Review plant, labour, and materials to ensure resources are in place for the short to medium term (1-3 months).

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with the Murphy team and ensure appropriate level of client/subcontractor engagement to ensure safe timely completion of all site activities.

  • Close coordination of all sites-based activities in line with customer specifications and procedures.
