Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Site Manager to support energy transmission projects, initially based at Wigan and moving to Cannock. The role requires coordinating with the PM, client, and regulators, and supervising subcontractors to deliver on time and to quality.

The ideal candidate will have extensive site/contract management experience, preferably with gas or linear project knowledge, plus relevant HNC/degree qualifications and solid health and safety credentials.

Qualifications

  • Must have previous experience as a Site Manager or looking to take the next step up.
  • Ideally with gas experience and/or linear project knowledge.
  • HNC Building Studies or a degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.
  • Experience in delivering Civil Engineering / Construction Schemes.
  • Extensive background in site/contract management delivering contracts of similar value.
  • Solid health and safety knowledge and a health and safety qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Murphy PM with project coordination and client/regulatory communications.
  • Plan and deliver work to time and standard, monitor progress.
  • Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed.
  • Review plant, labour and materials weekly against forecasted expenditure.
  • Prepare time sheets and weekly allocation sheets for QSs and client.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors in line with project quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Construction Phase Plan, Project Quality Plan and Environmental Plan.
  • Attend weekly progress meetings and report progress and issues with photos.

Murphy is recruiting for a Site Manager to work with Energy for WRIP (pipeline in Cotswolds) Initally based at Wigan onsite from January 2027

A day in the life of a Murphy Site Manager



  • Assisting Murphy PM in matters relating to the Project with the Client and the Regulatory Authorities, and any other associated parties.

  • Assisting Murphy PM Plan and deliver all work ensuring it is completed on time and to the agreed standard.

  • Assisting Murphy PM to ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed as and when required.

  • Weekly review of plant, labour and materials to ensure resources are in place and in line with forecasted expenditure.

  • Production of time sheets

  • Weekly Allocation sheets submitted to QS’s for review and issuing to Client.

  • Plant List review completed every week and any queries issued .

  • Liaise with the Project Manager to resolve any technical issues outside of the scope of works.

  • Co-ordination and supervision of various Subcontractors in the performance of their assigned Scope of Work and for execution of work in a manner that this consistent with Project Quality requirements.

  • Ensuring that prescribed Project requirements are properly implemented, controlled and effectively documented.

  • Having knowledge of Project requirements and for requesting technical assistance and services from the Project Engineers as required.

  • Liaison with the Client.

  • Providing construction and technical assistance to Project Management.

  • Ensuring all Construction Managers have the relevant information to carry out their duties.

  • Control of Operation Procedures and Work Instructions to be implemented on the Project.

  • Manage Sensible Monitoring Plans.

  • Compliance with all responsibilities detailed in Construction Phase Plan, Project Quality Plan and Environmental Plan

  • Attend Weekly Progress Meeting and produce report showing progress in the week and any potential issues with Photos
