Job summary

McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the site engineering function on high-value projects, delivering earthworks, piling, groundworks, and drainage. You will review drawings, manage surveys, and ensure accurate setting out within tolerances across complex packages.

The role requires a degree or equivalent, 5 years of relevant experience, and SMSTS with proven ability to manage RAMS, ITPs, and site reports. A driving licence and IT proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent.
• 5 years previous experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrable experience in setting out large scale contracts.
• Valid driving licence.
• SMSTS training.
• Previous experience working on large projects.
• Experience with concrete structures such as slipform or jumpform.
• First aid training.
• Experience using Fieldview and 4P Viewpoint.
• Good IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the site engineering function and reporting.
• Review drawings, specs, and contract docs for buildability and programme.
• Ensure accurate setting out and tolerances.
• Commission and manage external surveys.
• Prepare permits and licences with statutory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and procedures.
• Oversee RAMS and inductions for site personnel.
• Define temporary works scope and schemes.
• Develop and implement ITPs for quality control.
• Produce progress reports and maintain records.
• Communicate programme risks and contractual correspondence.
• Identify changes impacting works with the project team.
