Job summary

Align JV is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead preparation and delivery of works on portal buildings and shafts sites. You will manage interdisciplinary packages, ensure regulatory compliance, and supervise a team of engineers and foremen.

The role focuses on design review, programme planning, quality control, and handover. The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree or higher, with Chartered status or international equivalence, and proven experience in self-delivery and subcontracted works

Qualifications

  • Experience managing interdisciplinary projects, self-delivery and subcontracted works.
  • Degree or higher in an engineering discipline; HNC/HND acceptable with significant experience.
  • Chartered membership or international equivalent professional status.

Responsibilities

  • Site management including compliance with regulations, security, welfares, temporary services, with the general foreman support.
  • RAMS and safety standards understanding; ensure adherence and raise deviations to approved RAMS or unsafe situations.
  • Inspect work per Inspection Test Plan; address discrepancies with the team or subcontractor in charge; report progress and issues.
  • Follow and report progress weekly; review 3 weeks look ahead programme; ensure contractors work safely and to contractual obligations; report deviations and resolutions.
  • Check and keep records of delivered material; ensure materials on site meet specifications; include checks on subcontractor materials.

Job description

The ALIGN Senior engineer is responsible for leading preparation and delivery of works on the portal buildings and shafts sites.

This includes the following responsibilities:

  • Preparing new packages including: design review and feasibility, subcontractors’ enrolment,
  • Programme of works
  • Engineering specifications
  • Set out and measurement
  • Quality control, certificate and compliance up to handover
Team & Packages:
  • 7 assets including 5 shafts up to 68m deep and 2 portal buildings on both ends of the tunnel,
  • Diverse packages of work including civil finishing works, steel erection, firestopping, MEP installation & commissioning,
  • You would be joining a team of 4 engineers and 6 foremen,
Responsibilities

As a senior engineer in the team you will be leading the following:

  • Site management including compliance with regulations, security, welfares, temporary services, with the support with the general foreman,
  • Health and safety: understand RAMS and standard we are working to and ensure these are being adhered to, raise any deviation to approved RAMS and any un-safe situation,
  • Quality: inspect work being done accordingly to Inspection Test Plan in place for the activity, raise and address any discrepancy with the team or subcontractor in charge, report on progress and issues,
  • Programme & Progress: follow and report progress weekly, review 3 weeks look ahead programme and ensure all contractors are working safely and accordingly to their contractual obligations, report any deviation and lead resolutions,
  • Take responsibility for checking and keeping records of delivered material, to ensure all materials used on site are in line with the specification. To include adequate checks on subcontractor materials.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in manage interdisciplinary projects, both in self-delivery and subcontracted works,
  • The post holder will be educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically an Engineering discipline. A lower educational level, typically HNC or HND may be acceptable where a very significant level of experience in a technical engineering role can be demonstrated.
  • Membership of an appropriate Professional body, typically Chartered member of Institute of Civil Engineering or an international equivalent professional status.
