Take the lead on technically challenging civil engineering projects across the Highlands.

We are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Site Engineer for a permanent position based in Inverness.

The Role

Working closely with the site and project management teams, you will take a leading role in coordinating engineering activities, maintaining technical accuracy and ensuring projects progress safely, efficiently and in accordance with specification.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking ownership of site engineering operations, including setting out, surveying and dimensional control.
• Interpreting construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation to ensure accurate delivery on site.
• Providing technical leadership and practical engineering support to site teams and subcontractors.
• Identifying and resolving engineering challenges, design discrepancies and potential construction issues.
• Managing quality assurance procedures, inspection records, as-built information and associated documentation.
• Coordinating with site management to maintain programme targets, monitor progress and minimise disruption.
• Supporting the planning and sequencing of construction activities to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Maintaining effective communication with project managers, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Ensuring engineering works comply with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers where appropriate.

About You

We are particularly interested in speaking with engineers who combine strong technical knowledge with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Ideally, you will have:

• A solid background in civil engineering, infrastructure, earthworks, drainage, roads or associated construction projects.
• Previous experience operating as a Senior Site Engineer or a proven Site Engineer with the ability to progress.
• Excellent setting-out and surveying capabilities, including experience with total stations and GPS equipment.
• Strong technical understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and construction methodologies.
• Experience with quality assurance, inspection and test plans, and engineering documentation.
• The confidence to manage engineering responsibilities independently and make sound technical decisions.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside operational and management teams.
• A relevant civil engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• A full UK driving licence.
