Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Wellbeing Manager to lead SHW strategy across major civil engineering and infrastructure projects nationwide, with hybrid working from Chester.

You will oversee incident investigations, drive safety culture, provide expert guidance on UK legislation, manage audits, and collaborate with project teams and suppliers to deliver measurable improvements across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ6 or equivalent required.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with budgets and change control.
• Knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
• Experience leading SHW teams on multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead SHW Advisors and site teams to ensure safety standards.
• Champion a positive safety culture across projects.
• Provide expert guidance on health and safety legislation and compliance.
• Oversee incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Deliver SHW initiatives and improvement programmes.
• Conduct audits and assurance activities to maintain high standards.
• Collaborate with projects and supply chain to embed SHW requirements.
• Monitor SHW metrics and drive improvements.
• Represent the business at stakeholder meetings.
• Support budget management and change control for SHW activities.
