Seize this opportunity as a Senior Service Engineer within our Grid Automation Team in Stone, Staffordshire.
This is a hybrid role, providing technical advice to customers, plus commissioning, installing, and testing products/equipment including:
- Identifying and correcting complex problems associated with start-up
- Researching and recommending new product upgrades to meet customer needs
- Developing relationships with customers to secure future business
- Resolving implementation queries and training customers on purchased equipment
- Collaborating with the Power Grids Grid Automation Engineering Department on installation, commissioning, and fault resolution of SCADA, RTU, communication networks, and protection systems

About the Role
- Work on an ‘on call Rota’ for out-of-hours emergency support
- Maintain records of customer problems, maintenance, and solutions
- Provide technical support to customers and colleagues
- Assist Sales & Tendering with customer and site-specific knowledge
- Support customer approval activities such as Type Registration and custom designs
- Prepare technical & test specifications, reports, IEC61850 files, and design drawings
- Ensure compliance with Quality, Safety, and Accountancy policies
- Maintain customer spares and standby systems
- Prepare method statements and risk assessments for onsite work
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Conform to the HAPG Electrical Safety Management System
- Understand environmental risks related to the business
- Be flexible to work away from home as required
- Collaborate with the wider HAPG team and promote HAPG technologies and values
- Engage with customers to meet or exceed service expectations
- Respond promptly to customer requests
- Apply logical engineering practices under pressure
Your Background
- Knowledge of SCADA & RTUs
- Basic understanding of power transmission and distribution protection solutions
- Customer-focused with fluent English communication skills
- Security clearance disclosures / Full UK/EU driving license
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of communication networks
- Familiarity with IEC61850
- Understanding of HAPG Power Grids Products Portfolio
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- National Safety Passport / National Grid BESC and competent person
- Valid GWO Certification
