Job summary

Riley Personnel is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Greenwich. You will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, delivering tailored 1:1 and small-group guidance to help access the curriculum and improve learning outcomes.

The role requires confidence in managing behaviour, building strong relationships, and adapting activities to individual learning needs. A full DBS on Update Service is preferred or a willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs is essential.
• Experience in a primary school setting is essential.
• DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one is required.
• Strong behaviour management skills and ability to stay calm with challenging behaviour.
• Flexible approach to adapt to different pupils and classroom needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with additional learning needs.
• Assist pupils in accessing classroom activities and engaging with the primary curriculum.
• Support children with needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties.
• Encourage independence and positive interactions with peers.
• Use appropriate strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.
• Collaborate with class teachers and SEN staff to ensure consistent support.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to different abilities and learning styles.
• Recognise challenges and provide encouragement and reassurance.
• Support pupils during breaktimes and lunchtimes, promoting safe interactions and inclusion.
