Job summary

MBDA UK invites applications for a Senior Security Vetting Officer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is within security vetting, supporting recruitment and managing vetting enquiries to ensure personnel risks are identified and mitigated.

You will liaise with UKSV, handle confidential case work, and use electronic vetting databases to update clearances, contributing to the Vetting Strategy in a fast-paced environment with hybrid on-site requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple vetting enquiries.
• Experience with electronic Vetting Databases and multiple IT platforms.
• Desirable: knowledge of MOD and defence industry.

Responsibilities

• Support Recruitment in obtaining security clearances and checks for new employees.
• Assist with management of confidential and complex vetting enquiries.
• Be point of contact for vetting issues/problems.
• Liaise with UKSV and other external agencies when appropriate.
• Work with external IT platform to obtain and update security clearances.
• Provide support to areas of Security Services.
• Lead on departmental projects to meet deadlines.
• Support the implementation of the Vetting Strategy.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the dynamic and vibrant environment of security vetting. This is a crucial area of the business which supports the delivery of security cleared personnel! Salary: up to £35,000 depending on experience Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2 to 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team. You typically need 5 years of continuous UK residency. Not having spent five years in the UK may not automatically disqualify you, but please be aware we cannot guarantee the outcome of the security clearance process and this may impact your ability to work for MBDA; these are processed on a case by case basis.

The opportunity: Senior Security Vetting Officer - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

• You will be part of a highly motivated and progressive team who are the first layer of security in ensuring any personnel risks are identified and managed.
• Support Recruitment in obtaining security clearances and checks for all new employees.
• Supporting with the management of confidential and complex vetting enquiries.
• Be point of contact for vetting issues/problems.
• Liaise with UKSV and other external agencies when appropriate.
• Work with external IT platform to obtain and update security clearances.
• Provide support to areas of Security Services.
• Lead on departmental projects for successful implementation to meet deadlines.
• In addition, you will be required to support the Personnel Security Manager in the successful implementation of the Vetting Strategy.
• Your role will be diverse and fast-paced as you support the department and business in achieving its objectives and reducing risk to the organisation.

• Experience of HMG BPSS and UKSV vetting processes

• Able to work under pressure and prioritise work as required
• Professional meticulous approach, with a keen eye for detail
• Experienced on the use of electronic Vetting Databases and multi IT platforms
• Desirable, but not essential: Experience and knowledge of MOD and defence industry
• Relevant vetting and Personnel Security experience or qualification
• Awareness and knowledge of recruitment and on boarding processes for defence industry
• Personnel Security awareness for the ongoing aftercare of security cleared staff
• Presentational experience for the delivery of training
